Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in
Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
'Till I see the mountains rise.
Ba boo ba ba boo.(Andrew's sisters)
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon 'till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.
No.
Poppa, don't you fence me in

Hi everyone. I just love this old song by Bing Crosby and we should sing it every night around the campfire as we travel this country of ours. All you guys in caravans or tents, who appreciate being free and  away from the pressures of daily life....LET'S HEAR IT LOUD AND CLEAR and make it our nomads THEME SONG.
I would love to hear from you. Travel well and safe, Shanti

WHEN ENTHUSIASM TURNS TO HYSTERIA.
I have written about sport and many other subjects, but have not included the seriousness of the spectators involved, who chose a team or even a single player (or at times a performer), whom they support through thick and thin. That is real enthusiasm in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with that.
I have watched a lot of sporting events on TV, as l don’t like going out amongst the crowds to see a match or player perform live. I really enjoy the battle between 2 sides and often sit here supporting one of them and want that person or team to win, for no specific reason.
During a match, at regular times, the cameras zoom in on people in the crowd, between sports-shots, who watch the big screens on the field and as soon as they see themselves, they go berserk, pulling faces, jumping up and down, banging on the advertising boards etc. etc. A massive behaviour, which is brought out in these people due to their enthusiasm for the team they support. I can understand that in many ways, as you can become very involved in the team’s performance, not just for this game, but for future games as well.
It seems however, that a lot of people are so highly strung these days, that an occasion like your team winning, allows them to let go and explode. Regular cheering and hand-clapping, doesn’t seem enough anymore.
I have seen soccer games played in the past, watching them on TV, especially in Europe, when things got very heated and the enthusiasm turned to hysteria. (See cover page.) This is very serious stuff and emotions can overflow and a ‘war-like’ situation erupts. People supporting different teams start fighting each other and many a person has died, being caught-up in this situation.
Sport should be sport and we must always remember from the very beginning, that when 2 teams or individuals are battling it out to try and win the game, there is always one who wins and the other one that loses. That’s the way it is and we should be prepared to face a loss. Some games come out as a draw and l sometimes believe, that a draw is often a fair result, as both combatants, deserve half share of the prize.
There is another facet that came to the fore, the other day. A tennis player was hell-bent on getting the crowd on his side. He is a show-man and has been for a number of years, a favourite of the crowd, as he entertains them with his antics. He takes the seriousness out of tennis and is quite a clever player in his own right. I could feel the division in the crowd, those who wanted to see tennis played and the others who did agree with this fellows’ anticks.
That situation can lead to an over-reaction of some people and may become hysterical and as mentioned above, during some soccer matches in the past, can lead to a serious situation.
I have mentioned acidity and alkalinity so many times before, together with the moods of people and in the above situations it is very obvious to me that alkaline people are calm and placid as a rule and can tolerate a lot, before they get upset and they often walk away from a violent situation, rather than fight it or even get involved.
Acidic people are so much more highly strung and fly off the handle very easily during a stressful time. They often are like ‘sitting-time-bombs’, ready to explode at the slightest disturbance to them.
In our modern world, we get involved a lot in bad eating habits, so often mentioned already. Most take away foods are acidic in nature and since they have become so popular, our general population is acidic. People going to sporting events, are eating and drinking these foods more than others, who are happy to be involved with other activities.
When you fill a stadium with 50,000 people or more, the atmosphere is volcanic by nature and if something happens, they do not agree with, they will let you know, well and truly.
Sport was played originally as a body builder and health manager, when we played it as amateurs, without being paid for it. However, these days, professionalism has taken over and ’big bikkies’ are being paid, not only to the players, but also to the clubs, who support these teams.
Large drink and food companies, sponsor these teams with millions of dollars the world over and betting companies are thriving on the millions of willing ‘losers’, who follow them every week again and again. We see drink and food advertising on just about every teams’ outfits, everywhere.
I could print many advertisings here, but l will not support their lies.
Okay, that is what people want, but l feel that these companies fail their followers in the fact, that the advertised drinks and foods are not healthy even though they are advertised as such. Especially for the sportspeople themselves, who need to supply their bodies with the best foods and drinks available, to maintain good health.
I am sad that the organisers of these sports, their doctors and physio’s, are not trained in nutrition. So much more could be expected from the sports men and women AND INJURIES WOULD BE REDUCED, something that really worries me the most.
In every game, it being football, tennis, cricket or whatever, injuries play a big part these days. This happening, playing sport in the way it is, is NOT as healthy as we may think. That makes me really think as a natural therapist, who has been involved in sport and the treating of people, who were injured playing sport since 1952.
Could the incidence rate be reduced drastically? I think so, by not allowing a sportsperson to continue to play for instance, when only the first signs of an injury appear and allow healing to take place immediately and properly. Using the ‘magic spray’, reducing the pain etc, is not the way to go, as the actual injury is getting worse, without it being felt.
I can hear the ‘bosses’ arguing with me now; IF THIS PLAYER IS TAKEN OFF THE FIELD OR COURT, he/she/or the team won’t earn as much ….bla, bla, bla.  Money plays a big part in sport and it seems that that is more important than the players themselves.
Just to repeat my statement about sport: “Sport should be played for the building of the body and making/keeping it at that healthy level for life.”
Another thing I observed the other day, that a tennis player, one male and one female, during the Australian Open, was burping, just as they were about to serve a ball. That means that they had a meal, to close to their match and this food was not yet digested. These are top ranked players, who have been in the game for years. You would think by now they would have learned or given advice on their diet. I believe, that every sports team or individual player, should have a nutritionist travelling with them and preparing them quality, organic foods and drinks all the time. None of these quick take away snacks, which are hard to digest, especially just before a game.
When a player wins the point in tennis (but also in other sports) and certainly after the match, you can see the in-built aggression coming out, as they punch the air or smash a tennis ball into the crowd.
In football, soccer and also other team sports, the players will embrace one-another almost violently to show the appreciation of their enthusiasm to their fellow team members. The idea is nice, but as long as it is from the heart and not ‘just-a-thing-to-do’, like the ‘high-fives’.
My dear friends, l have got another item off my chest. These things come to me, not with malice, but making you aware of ‘the-things-we-do’ today.
If you are a professional sportsperson, l would like you to remember, that the body is a natural creation, which is supposed to be fed organic/natural food for it to function 100%. Health is very complex and to be in control of your health, you MUST start with quality food.
Many younger players in various sports,
have active acne and older players with the signs of previous acne. This is a sign that they need some good advice on clean, foods. There are some people will suffer with acne due to a hormonal imbalance. It is a shame that they have not been advised properly.
I have mentioned the care for your car elsewhere, something you do not forget as a rule. The mechanic checks out all the vital parts for wear and tear; oil level; brake pads; water in the radiator; tyre pressure etc. SOOO? Why not do the same for your body?
Body care is part of living and certainly when playing sport. You cannot separate them.
If you win or lose, you should be happy in some way, having played to your best ability. That is sport! Win today, lose tomorrow, but be happy to be able to play the game in the first place.
Never allow your enthusiasm get the better of you and instead it becoming hysteric, be happy for the other players, win or lose. Next time you meet, the result may be different and that is the challenge in all sports. Just be happy!
It is sport we play, NOT WAR!
Be enthusiastic, by all means; laugh; cheer; clap hands; wave the flags or your caps, which will be seen by the player/s as a sign of support. You should be ready to talk to your neighbour in the stands, who happens to support the other player or team as a gesture of sportsmanship.
In days gone by, some entertainment was regularly held in arenas, where two persons were put in the ring to fight to the death. That is no longer allowed and even bullfighting should not be allowed, as the defenceless animal will always die. What is in our minds when we follow these cruel adventures? Why is killing so important to so many people?
Yesterday l watched a TV program, where a man was caught, putting a chicken in his backyard and encouraging his dog (*) to chase it and ‘hopefully’ kill it. This was caught on CCTV or a phone camera and this man was charged properly. To this man, this was sport.
(*) This dog was the most placid dog and would eventually turn out to be a killer.
Let us be peaceful and love all creation. God created everything for a purpose. If we do not understand its purpose, do some research, like l did when someone said: “…but mosquitoes, those nasty things, they should have never been created.” In this case we challenge God’s decision to create a mosquito, which in fact has many positive uses. Their larvae are invaluable as feed for small fish and tadpoles in the rivers and creeks. Once they become adults and fly away, they pollinate certain plants like the bees and are feed for small insect-eating birds and bats. Yes, they can be a nuisance at dusk especially, when we want to be out and have a BBQ or something, but they have to eat as well and unfortunately, they are mostly targeting females for their blood to survive. They are also carriers of some horrendous diseases, but ….  Maybe ? it is man who allowed these diseases to develop in the first place. I don’t know.
There are defence mechanisms we can employ, which we should anyway and that is building our immune system, not just to deter mozzies but also to ward-off diseases, something l have covered very well previously.
I have always been an animal lover, from he tiniest to the largest and when l was traversing our continent, a number of years ago, l learned so much more, as all l did was be involved with animals. I very seldom spoke to people and was not at all at a loss for doing so. The conversations l had with the animals, were very special, something the average person will not understand.
When little birds and butterflies come and sit on my knee, they must surely feel the peace l have around me. This happened a number of times.
That was real enthusiasm and l loved the results of getting involved with them. Even today, l have a resident gecko in my unit and we do communicate every day.  As CRAZY as it may sound to you, to me it is nature at its best. l usually try and do my best to imitate their sounds, be they birds or other animals and they nearly always respond.
Be happy, be at peace and don’t forget to love and be loved always,
Shanti.
