Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above,
Don't fence me in.
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love,
Don't fence me in.
Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze
And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees
Send me off forever but I ask you please,
Don't fence me in
Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle
Underneath the western skies
On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder
'Till I see the mountains rise.
Ba boo ba ba boo.(Andrew's sisters)
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
And gaze at the moon 'till I lose my senses
And I can't look at hobbles and I can't stand fences
Don't fence me in.
No.
Poppa, don't you fence me in

Hi everyone. I just love this old song by Bing Crosby and we should sing it every night around the campfire as we travel this country of ours. All you guys in caravans or tents, who appreciate being free and  away from the pressures of daily life....LET'S HEAR IT LOUD AND CLEAR and make it our nomads THEME SONG.
I would love to hear from you. Travel well and safe, Shanti

What if?

SHANTI LINSEN  D.O, D.C, NHA

l woke up to another thought a while back, of considering nature totally. Man can be very selfish, or better called ‘in-considerate’, when it comes to dealing with the wild animals in the area we live in.
I give you an example: “What if the animals decide, to start celebrating a certain day like we humans do so easily, disregarding the rest of creation”?
Ok, l will explain what l am coming to.
We as humans, celebrate Christmas, New year and a number of other occasions during the year, often using fire-works which make a terrific amount of noise and flashing lights, at a time when wild animals in the trees or even on the ground, are shell-shocked, by the sudden onslaught of these explosions, often lasting for more than 30 minutes at the time. I have casually mentioned this before on another occasion, but there is more to this report than just noise and flashing lights. We will come to that later.
What about dogs? They might like to have such fun as well. So, they decide to celebrate “National dog Day”. They decide to BARK for 30 minutes at midnight on their celebration day, when you have just gone to sleep. That would be nice too, would it not? Could you imagine, all the dogs in the street barking in unison at a given time? One dog barking can just about drive you mad. Hundreds of them …. Well you decide.
Next the cockatoos. They have decided to celebrate “cockatoo day” as well.
At a particular time, say midnight again, all the cockies start squawking all together, just outside your house, just as you are in a nice deep sleep.
What would you do? Yes, come on, what would you do?
I can see many-a-bloke get out of bed, start to rant and rave, run outside and start yelling at these birds and cursing them for what it is worth.
It would not be a very pleasant affair, as you had a big day at work and the kids were naughty, so you are very tired and needed that sleep.
A week later, the crows have their ‘day’ and in unison again, they start to ‘crow like mad’ and they are having fun doing so. Afterall it is their ‘celebration day’ and they are all taking part in this.
Another week later …… etc. (Afterall, there are many animals maybe all wanting their celebration.)
God created all animals to have a purpose on this planet.
God created night and day; the daytime to work and play and the nighttime to rest and recuperate and rebuild. This law is for everyone and every living creature.
Why do we not follow this law strictly and consider others, who have as much right to be here and do their given jobs?
In most cases, animals have better or more acute hearing than people, so they are even more affected by noise, than humans would be. Our household pets are often locked up in the garage or laundry, when we know, such an event is going to take place. However, that does very little for the animal, just that we think that he/she is safe and cared for. It is a lousy way of dealing with the situation, as they still get a shock, each time a fire-cracker goes off. It is not only the noise and the flashing lights, but also the pollution these things create; the smoke drifting into the trees, where the birds and other animals are sheltering for the night. They too need sleep to recover from the day just past, to continue their appointed duties the next day.
Another thing!
When we have a party, celebrating an event like Christmas, the whole family and friends are together and we are eating ‘human food’. During this event, our dogs and cats mainly, roam around and are given bits and pieces of ‘human food’ by the guests, which could sadly affect them.
It is well known, that chocolate is deadly to dogs for instance.
PETS ARE NOT HUMANS AND DO NOT KNOW CELEBRATIONS!
Really, we must start thinking again and deal with this situation in a better way.
During our home celebrations and parties, put your dog in his/her kennel, where it is happy and in a friendly surrounding, being left in peace, without all these strange people trying to be nice. That would be some real consideration and good deed for your pet. What do you reckon? Make sure during the evening, that they are fine and cosy, giving them a nice pat and a cuddle, but don’t get them involved in human activities, such as parties.
“I have never thought about that”, I hear you say. Well, l just made you aware of a grave situation, where we should consider all creation at all times and don’t be so selfish, just to satisfy your own ego.
We are inclined to consider our neighbours and we will on occasions ‘turn the music down’, but there have been many instances, where a war broke out between neighbours, due to the lack of consideration.
As I started mentioning cockatoos and he noise they will make when aroused, galahs are not bad either and they like fun.
I have witnessed many a flock of galahs, flying wildly through the sky, squealing at their heart’s content, especially when a storm is due. They just love it!
Having lived in the country and visited my brother’s place, who grew triticale, the sulphur crested cockatoos and corellas swarmed down by the hundreds on the field, which was freshly sewn with new seed. Once disturbed, they make a deafening noise, which is not pleasant at all. Well, that is the noise you would hear on ‘cockatoo day’.
These are just a few of the birds that would make your life a misery, if they decided to celebrate, like we do.
And why shouldn’t they really?
Where l live, in the tropics, there is a bird called the ‘Bush stone Curlew’. A very lovely, slim bird, which can be seen during the late afternoon, just before nightfall, but ….. the noise it makes is deafening and not very nice really. It is a screaming noise. This bird will ‘sing’ (joke) at regular intervals during the night and a lot of the local people don’t like them.
As it is with everything, you get used to it and l don’t mind them; part of the local folklore. These guys do not need an excuse to have a party.
When l was travelling around Australia a number of years ago, l always camped in the bush and accepted the nightly sounds of a particular area. Some nights it may be the howling of dingos, other times the soft, but distinct humming of the owls and nightjars. I enjoyed these, as it was nature at its best.
Having a very peaceful mind and having been told to do this trip after a week’s meditation, l immediately accepted all the things that were going with it. So many good things happened, as for instance the weather, which was unusually dry and not at all monsoonal, which it should have been. The first clouds l saw in the sky, were in July, 5 months after l left home, when l was travelling into southern W.A. Not a single drop of rain before that and as l said l travelled through the far north in the heart of the monsoon season. l should have had floods and things on my way, but l was totally protected from any harm. l trusted my God fully, as l always do.
‘What if’ l did not plan my trip?  Well, that is another ‘What if’. There are plenty of ‘What if’s’ around, but rather wonder what they may be. Plan the whole of your life with faith and trust and know that you are protected. I was totally on my own, going thousands of kilometres in country without people and sometimes not even trees. The wild, untamed bush can be harsh. (I had one punctured tyre, the whole trip).
One of the more amazing events was a herd of wild ‘brumbies’ (horses), surrounding my 4 WD, early in the morning. They woke me up with their snorting and trampling of their feet around the vehicle. I looked out of my car-top-tent window and was happily surprised.
That is exactly what l wanted to experience. Just the same as the snake slithering oven my bare foot, sitting outside my car, having afternoon tea. Also the birds coming around the car after a few days. l always made sure, l had some seeds handy, to reward them just a little.
Thank goodness, none of these beauties wanted to celebrate a special day, as there were many different varieties of animals all the time. Sometimes l needed to look hard and find some of them, like ants and beetles, but they all fascinated me no end.
Well my dear ones, here is another one of my thoughts put to paper and l hope l have stirred something up in you, to be more considerate in the future and allow nature to work in the most peaceful way. So far l only covered the animal world for consideration, but there is a lot more to think about. Trees are so vital to the survival of Mother Earths and so seldom considered, etc. I have mentioned weeds in the past, what amazing things they can do; also mosquitoes (Yayks).
Who really wants a lot of noise?
Who really wants flashing lights?
Being nearly deaf isn’t always so bad for me, as l can turn off the dreaded daily noise levels and be at peace.
May l ask you to consider the above in the future and allow nature to work completely and peacefully for ALL OUR SAKES. Those people, who have decided to make the ‘country’ their home, travelling constantly in a caravan or even tenting, will learn very quickly, that there is a need to consider nature as a whole.
That there is a balance we need to be part of and cannot be selfish, but we should be considerate and GIVE as well as TAKE.
Teach the children to be friends of the Earth and love and appreciate the existence of all nature and embrace it with open arms, to try and communicate with the flora and fauna in a loving way, so they too can feel the love of Mother Nature and ALL her inhabitants, created so lovingly by God.
For them to learn to attract the birds, the smaller creatures etc. and not to follow he modern trend of chasing and even “KILLING” everything. Everything has a purpose, otherwise it would not exist.
Give thanks to God for putting us on this beautiful planet for us to ENJOY for the rest of our lives. Forgive and forget any negative experiences and move forward with love in your heart.
We may have read in the bible about ‘Paradise’, how magnificent a place that was.
We can still have that right now, if only we would open up to accepting the ‘gift’.
Just one more thing. l am asking you to give up visiting fireworks in the future, so they won’t be held again.
Ok, that is a big ask for some of you, BUT it can be done. We can do anything if we try hard and l always maintain that there is no such thing as: CAN’T.
Over the many years, l have been around, there have been times, l had to bend and accept such requests for peace sake. I did not particularly want to, but l did it anyway and found it made me stronger.
l will not mention one particular event in detail, but l had to give in to a request from the heart, that hurts me still today. This happened 30 or more years ago, but for peace-sake, l did it. Oh, how it hurt then and even now, but l was given the strength to cope with it in the end. That particular event has made me so powerful!
Watching TV the other day, they showed some relations being re-united after many years of separation; mothers who had to adopt-out their newborn babies, because they could not look after them. That must be so painful, for the mother. This would probably be one of the worst decisions one could have to make, to hand over your so-much-awaited baby to a stranger. Wow!
Some mothers were re-united with their adult children after many years and were so ecstatic, but found that the love was still there on both sides of the relationship.

‘What if’; believe; never hesitate; love and enjoy; trust; be patient and ‘DO IT’.

Love to you all, Shanti

GAME ON! PARTY ON!
l found this statement rather interesting. I was watching a cricket match on TV and as soon as the game was finished a sign saying: “Game on! Party on!” was boldly displayed on the TV screen.
I would have rather seen: GAME ON! CELEBRATE ON! As the slogan.
Celebrations are often less damaging than parties, where it is generally understood, that alcohol is KING. We can celebrate by just cheering and dancing, feeling good within one-self, unaided by artificial means.
After the WBBL game I was watching on TV was over, the above statement was really expressed loud and clear on TV and repeated a few times.
Since now you know me a bit better, especially those people who read all my articles and books, that I believe in sport, for it to improve the body’s functions and its general health.
Okay! Match played and won by one team and fought hard by the other team, doing what I believe should be the end, except for a good shower and maybe a massage and a healthy meal, together with a life-giving drink, such as a freshly squeezed fruit juice or some more water and celebrating the win as a team.
A nice time may be had by the team members being together after the game for a while and talk about the game before going to bed and allow the body to regenerate, to face the next day, which is usually a training day. This would make sense to me, as they are professionals.
The statement ‘GAME ON- PARTY ON’, is surely directed to having some (?):
1. Alcohol,
2. loud music, most of the time a
3. take-away and a
4. late night as well, not allowing the body to rest properly before the next day.
There is much more written about ‘SPORT’, in my article by that name, so l will not repeat that here.
I don’t hold you for a fool, as l know that you know, that the above-mentioned items are very damaging. Some of you may not admit it, because you may be addicted but, on the one hand you improve your body playing sport and as soon as you have finished the game, you decide to wreck it.
Yes, l know that this is a big statement to make, but it is true. And YES again, everyone seems to do it. My thoughts on drinking alcohol are well and truly documented in previous articles. The fact that everyone drinks alcohol, does NOT make if safe or healthy.
I know also, that you like a party and have some fun, but as a sports person, who has made that sport your career, you should do everything within your power, to make yourself strong and well and keep it there for the duration of your career AND BEYOND. I have observed that some sports-people after they retire from active sport, allow their health to dwindle. This is not always due to slowing down on the exercises, but very often giving in to a poor diet. I feel so sad, to see that happen.
I remember the days, when l and also some of my friends, played sport on a casual basis, as we wanted to be well. Squash and tennis were the most popular games we played.
We regularly used to have parties at each other’s homes on weekends, but we would not consume alcohol or eat devitalised food.
The couple, who’s turn it was to host the party on the night, would prepare an easy meal and had fresh pressed fruit/vegetable juices ready; cheese and biscuits or hors d’oeuvres (home-made), fresh fruit on a platter, before eating the main meal.
After diner we might have a light supper, before going home with a clear head. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate were the drinks.
Everyone was always happy. Luckily there were no known take away outlets in those days, not like today. There were pizza parlours, run by Italian people usually, but not much else really.
The fact I mention this, is that people must realise, that a healthy body, JUST doesn’t happen. It is a life-long commitment, BUT this does not mean that if you want to improve your health, starting now, it will not have a profound effect for the future.
Naughty this following story! At the end of my high school days, I was allowed to invite my class mates, boys and girls, for a party and we would dance, play games and have some ‘honey mead’ to drink, which l brewed myself.
I knew mead was alcoholic, as my grandfather taught me how to brew it. The alcoholic contents would vary, between batches, depending on the amount of sugar that was used in the final fermentation process.
Tasting mead, does not tell you, how strong the brew is, as it is such an easy drink to consume. On this night, after a few drinks, just about all my mates had passed out and were thoroughly drunk. You can imagine what Mum and Dad had to say about that, when they arrived home. (The consumption of alcohol in those days was a great deal less than what people consume today.)
As a family, we would on special occasions drink small amounts of mead with dinner and the alcoholic contents would only be 1½  or 2 %. The alcoholic contents of the mead served on the party night, must have been very high, maybe 8 % or more.
l stopped brewing mead after that, as l felt l had learned a big lesson. (*) Since then, l would not consume alcohol, as l know that even small amounts can be damaging and l will not take the risk of hurting my body.
Yes of course, on occasions l have toasted the couple at a wedding with a mouthful of wine. Life is full of lessons on a daily basis. I am not sorry having learned that one by the way.
(*) Life is full of lessons, as long as we accept them and take them on board. Lessons are to be learned, meaning that what we have experienced, should sink in and be available for the next time, a similar event is about to occur. This time around, you should be ready and consciously say “yes” or “no”, without the trauma of going through the whole procedure again.
Some people NEVER learn though. I have watched some of the ‘Highway patrol’ and ‘RBT’ shows on TV and it amazes me how many people get caught speeding, drink driving or being under the influence of drugs, un-licenced, un-registered vehicles etc. TIME AFTER TIME, and they always have a poor excuse for doing so. The same people are caught all the time and they are a target/magnet for the police.
There is that old saying: “A donkey doesn’t bump against the same stone twice.” A donkey isn’t supposed to be the smartest animal, but bumping himself twice on the same stone, that would not happen. What about people?
Take notice friends, if you have a problem and it keeps repeating itself, surely someone in your circle of friends would make you aware of your predicament, before you make the same mistake again. We all need support at times. I have noticed in these TV shows, that the police are keen to suggest to regular offenders of being ‘over the limit’, may it be alcohol or drugs, to get involved in a program, helping them to give these bad habits away.
Regular notices are shown on the TV screen of phone numbers you can call, if you are in trouble. You just cannot afford to be caught time and time again AND your addiction is NOT solving anything. You may as well drop the habit as soon as possible and “HAVE A LIFE AGAIN.” Come on guys, be strong and do it!
You save lots of money as well remember!
The excuse people use and think that the police are stopping people and giving them a fine, is a revenue raising program. Not true!  l don’t think of it that way at all. I have been driving since I was 17, 74 years now and have been fortunate not to have been in an accident. There were times in my life, where l had to take evasive action, because another driver did not allow enough space or time to make his move. I have been lucky too.
Driving without a valid driver’s licence and having been pulled up more than once is crazy. (remember the donkey?) This action is costing you a lot of money, the same as driving an un-registered car. It is so much cheaper to have your car registered at the due time, than being fined for an un-licenced or un-registered driver.
These repeat offenders just don’t use their brains. If not your friends, the police have told you so many times before and the worst part of it is, that these offenders think it is all a big joke. YOU ARE PUTTING OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES AT RISK AS WELL AS YOUR OWN! You are very irresponsible!
Speeding fines are very costly and l found that out a few years ago. Yep, l got caught going too fast, on a stretch of road l drove on regularly. I don’t know what happened, but l just did not see the speed restriction sign. I was not in a hurry, so there was no reason to speed. I even lost 3 demerit points, something l never lost before. I was only booked once before, doing 10 km over the speed limit. Not too bad after 74 years behind the wheel, is it? But that is still no excuse: I was driving, I was in charge of that vehicle and I was fined for speeding. SIMPLE! It hurts, having to pay $385 for nothing really, but it stirs something in you (at least in me), that you don’t forget in a hurry. I have been using my cruise control lately, which l did not bother about before.
I know, that road rules are there for the safety of everybody on the road and it often makes me wonder, how many drivers you pass on an average day driving illegally? What percentage of drivers, should not be driving at that moment? It is quite a frightening thought. It is not just doing the wrong thing, it also gets so involved if there is an accident, because these people are NOT INSURED.
Oh, oh, I am doing it again! Like a monkey in a tree, jumping from branch to branch!
This is how my brain works. There is so much to tell from experiences, that one story leads to another. Sorry! (or maybe not.)
Entertainment is great, but being entertained, should be natural, healthy fun, not a destructive activity. I am writing just at the time, a number of young people on holidays in Laos have been drinking spiked drinks and have died. So far, there are 7 or 8 young lives lost, just for the sake of somebody wanting to make money.
Tourists are often targeted by unscrupulous people, who know the customers are only there for a short time and they will never see them again.
I live in a holiday area, which is very popular to tourists. I took a friend out to lunch one day and the simple meal we ordered was disgusting. It had been reheated (maybe twice) and the fish we ordered was dry and no longer fit for human consumption. The salad was limp and obviously had been on that plate for ages. It was terrible. I was going to complain, but my friend said to let it be.
We walked out and went to another restaurant, where we ordered the same dish, which was beautiful, fresh and very tasty. I even asked the hostess to thank the chef for that very nice meal.
Maybe there should be more control by the health department in cases like that.
Coming back to the ‘branch’ l am supposed to be on, having travelled a lot as an airline steward years ago, we were always warned to be on the look-out for bad foods and drinks in some countries overseas (*) and NEVER to drink from an opened bottle of beer or whatever. Even water is often served in bottles, which have been re-filled from the tap, rather than being the brand name on the bottle. Very cunning!
(*) We were advised only to eat fruits with the skins intact and never to eat salads, even though they were washed. (in what sort of water?) In some middle eastern countries l visited then,
the meat in the butcher shops, would be hanging from a rail and be covered with flies. Guess what? We became vegetarians in a hurry when we saw that. We would also go to the bakery and get the breadsticks direct from the oven OURSELVES, without them being touched by the baker. I hope that these situations have improved since then (1962-1972). I have not travelled overseas for years now.
There is not a great deal more to say about the subject, except be smart, be aware and be very careful of charlatans, who will do anything to ‘make a quid’.
“My condolences go to you, the families, who have lost a daughter or a son in Laos.
An enormous lesson to learn parents and l am praying for you, to try and not HATE them, as Karma will deal with them. Your life WILL go on, even though it will be very different. Hate is not helping you. Try to be the other way, something that will take a while. Much love, (a few tears), Shanti”.

SHANTI LINSEN  D.O., D.C., HNA.
WHEN ENTHUSIASM TURNS TO HYSTERIA.
I have written about sport and many other subjects, but have not included the seriousness of the spectators involved, who chose a team or even a single player (or at times a performer), whom they support through thick and thin. That is real enthusiasm in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with that.
I have watched a lot of sporting events on TV, as l don’t like going out amongst the crowds to see a match or player perform live. I really enjoy the battle between 2 sides and often sit here supporting one of them and want that person or team to win, for no specific reason.
During a match, at regular times, the cameras zoom in on people in the crowd, between sports-shots, who watch the big screens on the field and as soon as they see themselves, they go berserk, pulling faces, jumping up and down, banging on the advertising boards etc. etc. A massive behaviour, which is brought out in these people due to their enthusiasm for the team they support. I can understand that in many ways, as you can become very involved in the team’s performance, not just for this game, but for future games as well.
It seems however, that a lot of people are so highly strung these days, that an occasion like your team winning, allows them to let go and explode. Regular cheering and hand-clapping, doesn’t seem enough anymore.
I have seen soccer games played in the past, watching them on TV, especially in Europe, when things got very heated and the enthusiasm turned to hysteria. (See cover page.) This is very serious stuff and emotions can overflow and a ‘war-like’ situation erupts. People supporting different teams start fighting each other and many a person has died, being caught-up in this situation.
Sport should be sport and we must always remember from the very beginning, that when 2 teams or individuals are battling it out to try and win the game, there is always one who wins and the other one that loses. That’s the way it is and we should be prepared to face a loss. Some games come out as a draw and l sometimes believe, that a draw is often a fair result, as both combatants, deserve half share of the prize.
There is another facet that came to the fore, the other day. A tennis player was hell-bent on getting the crowd on his side. He is a show-man and has been for a number of years, a favourite of the crowd, as he entertains them with his antics. He takes the seriousness out of tennis and is quite a clever player in his own right. I could feel the division in the crowd, those who wanted to see tennis played and the others who did agree with this fellows’ anticks.
That situation can lead to an over-reaction of some people and may become hysterical and as mentioned above, during some soccer matches in the past, can lead to a serious situation.
I have mentioned acidity and alkalinity so many times before, together with the moods of people and in the above situations it is very obvious to me that alkaline people are calm and placid as a rule and can tolerate a lot, before they get upset and they often walk away from a violent situation, rather than fight it or even get involved.
Acidic people are so much more highly strung and fly off the handle very easily during a stressful time. They often are like ‘sitting-time-bombs’, ready to explode at the slightest disturbance to them.
In our modern world, we get involved a lot in bad eating habits, so often mentioned already. Most take away foods are acidic in nature and since they have become so popular, our general population is acidic. People going to sporting events, are eating and drinking these foods more than others, who are happy to be involved with other activities.
When you fill a stadium with 50,000 people or more, the atmosphere is volcanic by nature and if something happens, they do not agree with, they will let you know, well and truly.
Sport was played originally as a body builder and health manager, when we played it as amateurs, without being paid for it. However, these days, professionalism has taken over and ’big bikkies’ are being paid, not only to the players, but also to the clubs, who support these teams.
Large drink and food companies, sponsor these teams with millions of dollars the world over and betting companies are thriving on the millions of willing ‘losers’, who follow them every week again and again. We see drink and food advertising on just about every teams’ outfits, everywhere.
I could print many advertisings here, but l will not support their lies.
Okay, that is what people want, but l feel that these companies fail their followers in the fact, that the advertised drinks and foods are not healthy even though they are advertised as such. Especially for the sportspeople themselves, who need to supply their bodies with the best foods and drinks available, to maintain good health.
I am sad that the organisers of these sports, their doctors and physio’s, are not trained in nutrition. So much more could be expected from the sports men and women AND INJURIES WOULD BE REDUCED, something that really worries me the most.
In every game, it being football, tennis, cricket or whatever, injuries play a big part these days. This happening, playing sport in the way it is, is NOT as healthy as we may think. That makes me really think as a natural therapist, who has been involved in sport and the treating of people, who were injured playing sport since 1952.
Could the incidence rate be reduced drastically? I think so, by not allowing a sportsperson to continue to play for instance, when only the first signs of an injury appear and allow healing to take place immediately and properly. Using the ‘magic spray’, reducing the pain etc, is not the way to go, as the actual injury is getting worse, without it being felt.
I can hear the ‘bosses’ arguing with me now; IF THIS PLAYER IS TAKEN OFF THE FIELD OR COURT, he/she/or the team won’t earn as much ….bla, bla, bla.  Money plays a big part in sport and it seems that that is more important than the players themselves.
Just to repeat my statement about sport: “Sport should be played for the building of the body and making/keeping it at that healthy level for life.”
Another thing I observed the other day, that a tennis player, one male and one female, during the Australian Open, was burping, just as they were about to serve a ball. That means that they had a meal, to close to their match and this food was not yet digested. These are top ranked players, who have been in the game for years. You would think by now they would have learned or given advice on their diet. I believe, that every sports team or individual player, should have a nutritionist travelling with them and preparing them quality, organic foods and drinks all the time. None of these quick take away snacks, which are hard to digest, especially just before a game.
When a player wins the point in tennis (but also in other sports) and certainly after the match, you can see the in-built aggression coming out, as they punch the air or smash a tennis ball into the crowd.
In football, soccer and also other team sports, the players will embrace one-another almost violently to show the appreciation of their enthusiasm to their fellow team members. The idea is nice, but as long as it is from the heart and not ‘just-a-thing-to-do’, like the ‘high-fives’.
My dear friends, l have got another item off my chest. These things come to me, not with malice, but making you aware of ‘the-things-we-do’ today.
If you are a professional sportsperson, l would like you to remember, that the body is a natural creation, which is supposed to be fed organic/natural food for it to function 100%. Health is very complex and to be in control of your health, you MUST start with quality food.
Many younger players in various sports,
have active acne and older players with the signs of previous acne. This is a sign that they need some good advice on clean, foods. There are some people will suffer with acne due to a hormonal imbalance. It is a shame that they have not been advised properly.
I have mentioned the care for your car elsewhere, something you do not forget as a rule. The mechanic checks out all the vital parts for wear and tear; oil level; brake pads; water in the radiator; tyre pressure etc. SOOO? Why not do the same for your body?
Body care is part of living and certainly when playing sport. You cannot separate them.
If you win or lose, you should be happy in some way, having played to your best ability. That is sport! Win today, lose tomorrow, but be happy to be able to play the game in the first place.
Never allow your enthusiasm get the better of you and instead it becoming hysteric, be happy for the other players, win or lose. Next time you meet, the result may be different and that is the challenge in all sports. Just be happy!
It is sport we play, NOT WAR!
Be enthusiastic, by all means; laugh; cheer; clap hands; wave the flags or your caps, which will be seen by the player/s as a sign of support. You should be ready to talk to your neighbour in the stands, who happens to support the other player or team as a gesture of sportsmanship.
In days gone by, some entertainment was regularly held in arenas, where two persons were put in the ring to fight to the death. That is no longer allowed and even bullfighting should not be allowed, as the defenceless animal will always die. What is in our minds when we follow these cruel adventures? Why is killing so important to so many people?
Yesterday l watched a TV program, where a man was caught, putting a chicken in his backyard and encouraging his dog (*) to chase it and ‘hopefully’ kill it. This was caught on CCTV or a phone camera and this man was charged properly. To this man, this was sport.
(*) This dog was the most placid dog and would eventually turn out to be a killer.
Let us be peaceful and love all creation. God created everything for a purpose. If we do not understand its purpose, do some research, like l did when someone said: “…but mosquitoes, those nasty things, they should have never been created.” In this case we challenge God’s decision to create a mosquito, which in fact has many positive uses. Their larvae are invaluable as feed for small fish and tadpoles in the rivers and creeks. Once they become adults and fly away, they pollinate certain plants like the bees and are feed for small insect-eating birds and bats. Yes, they can be a nuisance at dusk especially, when we want to be out and have a BBQ or something, but they have to eat as well and unfortunately, they are mostly targeting females for their blood to survive. They are also carriers of some horrendous diseases, but ….  Maybe ? it is man who allowed these diseases to develop in the first place. I don’t know.
There are defence mechanisms we can employ, which we should anyway and that is building our immune system, not just to deter mozzies but also to ward-off diseases, something l have covered very well previously.
I have always been an animal lover, from he tiniest to the largest and when l was traversing our continent, a number of years ago, l learned so much more, as all l did was be involved with animals. I very seldom spoke to people and was not at all at a loss for doing so. The conversations l had with the animals, were very special, something the average person will not understand.
When little birds and butterflies come and sit on my knee, they must surely feel the peace l have around me. This happened a number of times.
That was real enthusiasm and l loved the results of getting involved with them. Even today, l have a resident gecko in my unit and we do communicate every day.  As CRAZY as it may sound to you, to me it is nature at its best. l usually try and do my best to imitate their sounds, be they birds or other animals and they nearly always respond.
Be happy, be at peace and don’t forget to love and be loved always,
Shanti.

CHOKOS

Dinner time.
Now the season for chokos is on our doorstep, make good use of them, especially when they are still quite young. Some friends of mine gave me some of their organic produce, which included chokos and aubergines. What to do with them? Here goes:
My recipe:
Cut into 4, one choko, yes seed and all (the best part of the choko).
Boil them till soft-ish. (It only takes minutes) In a frypan, fry in plenty of olive oil and some soy sauce (watch the salty taste of the fetta):
            One very large mushroom
            A small Aubergine (egg plant).
Some fetta cheese. Cut all these into about 12 mm cubes
Fry them, stirred together till cooked.
Add these to the chokos, mix together, serve and eat.
It is a light dinner, salty and yammo!
NOTE:
Health benefits of chokos:
Anti-oxidants, heart health, blood sugar control, healthy pregnancy, anti- cancer, slows aging, support liver function.
PS. Not many people eat chokos, but you should start now. Eat them when they are still quite young with the skins ON. The older ones become hard and stringy. They make good planting material for next season.
Let the kids grow a choko. They see them climb over fences and onto the roof of the backyard shed.

Just "BE".

JUST “BE”.
                            JUST BE!

Be happy, loving and caring. Share your life with your neighbours and be kind to strangers. Smile as you go forth on your path. People will love you instantly, because of your smile and kindness. A word of encouragement to a person in need, goes a long way. Remember too, that you were born in a special society, may it be white, black or whatever, but we are all children of the same Universe or God, and we MUST accept the fact, that we all have a heart and red blood in our veins. Love one another disregarding of whatever faith, colour or believe system the other person may have. We have a right to think whatever we believe in. You have heard this before, but please practice your belief in good faith and with true conviction of love and peace towards all mankind, our planet and all its creatures and flora. Respect our oceans, our land and the air, as all these elements are working very closely together to make this world so precious. NOT ONE OF THEM IS USELESS. Save and protect all creation!
The Earth will look after us, if we look after it!

Sent to you with love and peace forever, Shanti.
